Mr Kerr…. I did not get to “chat” with you… but would have been happy to have done so… you are and have been a “hero” for me most of my adult life… and brought me to take “Culinary” training at Edmonds CC three years after my retirement from Group Health Co Op as an Optometrist 11 years ago. The “calling” of feeding the low income, homeless and disabled Veterans at Shalom has been a long journey…starting with Baptism at age 40 on my birthday on Palm Sunday. Jumping into “{church work’ I took Lutheran Confirmands down to Emmanuel Lutheran and the Denny Place Youth Shelter regularly… and cooked at the North Central Kiwanis annual camp on Whidbey Island at Camp Casey for kids with Spina Bifida and Cerebral Palsy each summer for the first week in August.
The “calling” of the Sermon on the Mount…. ie give em a little “chat” and then feed them to give them a chance to talk about the concepts over a meal is a remarkable process. Holden Village where I volunteer in summers is a fine “place of grace”…. and you would be a most wonderful “lecture” person should you wish to come and be with us. Folks come from all over the world to “teach and preach” there and we do meals for 450 or so folks three times a day…. http://www.holdenvillage.org take a look…. and thank you again for putting me on the path to my “calling”….. and it goes on and gets better every day… blessings to you and treena J
